SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Covered California Executive Director Jessica Altman issued the following statement on the passing of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein:

“California has lost one of its icons. For decades, Sen. Dianne Feinstein embodied leadership, courage, and an unwavering commitment to public service.  A true trailblazer, she was a role model for millions across the nation – as the longest-serving woman senator and as a leader never afraid to take on tough issues in the interest of Californians and the American people.

Sen. Feinstein leaves behind a strong legacy in health care. Her leadership helped make the landmark Affordable Care Act a reality. She was a stalwart champion of the law, and because of her work, the doors to affordable, accessible health care were opened to millions of Americans across the country.

Covered California sends condolences to Sen. Feinstein’s family and joins California and the nation in remembering her remarkable legacy in public service.”
