Uninsured San Diego County Residents Could Get Extra Savings on Health Insurance in 2026

A new program can help you save up to $350 per person each month — but you must enroll by July 31.

Am I eligible?

If you live in San Diego County, you may be eligible for help paying your monthly premiums with the new United for San Diego Premium Credit. That’s on top of any state and federal financial help you’re eligible for.

To get it, you must have had health insurance through Covered California in 2025 but not have health insurance now. Letters were sent out in June to people who are eligible.

Whether you’re eligible for it — and how much you get — depends on your household income. Amounts range from $125 to $350 per enrollee.

Enroll by July 31

To receive this financial help, you must enroll in a health plan through Covered California by July 31, 2026.

Funds are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s important to act quickly.

If you’re eligible, the premium credit will be applied after you enroll, and Covered California will send you a confirmation letter with your new plan, monthly premium, and the amount of the United for San Diego Premium Credit. Your credit will be applied to each month’s bill until the end of 2026, when the program is done.

How to Get the United for San Diego Premium Credit

Getting started is simple:

  1. Sign in to your Covered California account.

  2. Review your household and income information to make sure that it’s up to date.

  3. Choose the health plan that works best for you and your family.

  4. Watch for your confirmation letter from Covered California and your first bill from your health insurance company. They will show your new premium with the United for San Diego Premium Credit applied.

Good to know:

  • You won’t see this discount in your online account — it will show up on your bill from your insurance company.

  • You don’t need to submit a new application. If you already have a Covered California application, just sign in to your existing online account.

  • If you don’t have an online account yet, you can create one.

  • Has your income or household has changed since last year? Select “Report a Change” after you sign in. Any changes may affect the amount of financial help you receive.

Pay Your Bill Through Your Health Insurance Company

After you enroll, wait for your first bill from your health insurance company. Pay the amount due by the deadline listed on the bill.

Free Help Is Available

If you have questions about the program, call us at (855) 370-0028 (TTY: [888] 889-4500).

You can also get free local help from a Covered California certified enroller or licensed insurance agent.

This is a limited-time opportunity for eligible San Diego County residents to get extra help paying for health insurance in 2026.
