Preventive care is defined as routine health care that includes screenings, checkups and patient counseling to prevent illnesses, disease or other health problems.  

This kind of doctor’s appointment is free. If you bring up a specific health concern during your preventive care appointment, however, you could be charged a copay because the nature of the visit changed.
